The District continues to serve as the administrative support arm of the Kankakee River Basin Partnership. The Partnership is now waiting for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to announce which watersheds have been selected for the Strategic Subwatershed Initiative programs that will allow the Partnership, IDNR and the public to focus their efforts on identifying programs, practices and projects for those subwatersheds. The Partnership has made its recommendations to IDNR, and we are waiting for the results of a low level flyover of the river and streams to give us a better idea of where the trouble spots are.
