Environmental Education Teacher Grants
The Kankakee County Soil and Water Conservation District is again pleased to announce that it has offered a grant program for environmental/natural resource/agricultural education. The District offered eight $250 grants to teachers in Kankakee County to be used for materials, speakers or other needs that the teacher identifies. To apply for a grant, a teacher needed to provide the District with a one page, double spaced letter on school letterhead describing the project. If the teacher is the winner of a grant, the District would like a follow up letter at the end of the school year with pictures and descriptions of the project or event.

The winners of the 2007 grants were announced at the District’s Annual Meeting that was held on February 1, 2007. They were Heidi Munsterman, Jr. High Science at St. Anne Grade School, Jeanne Capriotti at Bradley Bourbonnais High School, Frank Petkunas at Bradley Bourbonnais High School, Linda Trandel at Shabbona Elementary School, Judy Dayton at Grant Park High School, Nancy Beagle at Chebanse Elementary School, Marcia Czerwionka at Manteno Elementary School and Deborah Adams at Aroma Park Elementary School. These teachers also received the book Creating Habitats and Homes for Illinois Wildlife for their classrooms. We look forward to being able to offer these grants again next year.
