The District has received word from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Division of Habitat Resources the 3rd Grade Arbor Program will not be offered for in 2005 . Staffing shortages and budget cuts have contributed to the program not being offered. The program may be available in future years.

Twenty four schools participated in Kankakee County in 2004 with over 1600 seedlings being distributed. The District will again offer participation in the program if made available through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources in the future.

The District will continue to provide classroom visits upon request.
